Are you good at procrastinating and putting things off for another day? Does your mind chatter include ruminating on the past and projecting onto the future? Do you have a hard time focusing on today and making it the best day?
I can truthfully say yes to all the above questions and I am making a commitment to myself to focus on all the fabulous things happening in today and forgetting about regrets of the past or fears of the future!
So how do I change my thoughts I ask myself.....
Well to begin with I am spending a few minutes of quiet each morning in gratitude for the day before me, asking for guidance in being of service and making this the best of my life. Instead of just going through the motions of the day ahead I am focused on positive uplifting thoughts for the day. For example instead of brushing my teeth mindlessly I am feeling gratitude for my healthy, bright teeth that allow me to chew all that healthy nutrient dense food I choose to eat. I then move on to walking the dog, making coffee and the other morning rituals keeping my mind focused on what I like about each task and how it makes my day start with a smile!
Next is to see the day before me whith love and joy. There might be less appealing tasks that I want to avoid but I know if I accomplish these things I will feel satisfied and joyful when they are completed. Plus with an open mind of being positive and seeing these 'tasks' with joy I will find little surprises of sunshine and happiness sprinkled in them. If we look for the gifts in the day even when doing the mundane we will have much more delight in our day and thus enjoy each day as it comes.
I know that chewing on something that happened the previous day or worrying about something to come in the future does nothing for my day today. Practising staying in today is a full time job because my natural habit is to be everywhere but today. And instead of just going through the motions of my day I am an active participant in making my day fabulous and that changes my attitude for the better!
So today, join me in making a conscious effort to stay in today focusing on what you are liking about today, what you appreciate and feel gratitude about and then see how your day goes! Remember what we focus on grows and I am all about making this awesome day grow - a day at a time!!
