Do you find yourself making lists to remember all the things you want to accomplish or do you just wing it and hope you will remember everything?
I must say I am an on again off again list writer. For my regular daily stuff I don't tend to make a list but for things like a party or specific event I write many lists. What I know is that when I have a list written then I get all the things on it done but when I don't write a list I really have no idea if I have forgotten to do something until I remember I forgot it ~ Yikes!
So by writing a list or lists of things I want to accomplish I have a much better chance of getting them completed in a given period of time. When I have a goal and actually put it on a list then I can break it down into smaller goals and keep working closer to completing my goal. (Hm, my inner critic is pondering this idea and wants to keep things vague while my Inner Guide is looking for paper to start the big goal list)
Now that my big goal list is made and hanging here in my office I can look at it everyday and visualize myself doing these things. Not only that but I can then write a list each day of smaller things I can do that will put me that much closer to achieving those goals. Oh wait a minute, I had to rewrite my BGL (big goal list) with actual tangible things and not just vague ideas of things (once again my inner critic wants to keep it vague). I had written 'eat a healthy diet' but there was no way for me to measure that goal and I changed it to 'lose 20 pounds eating a healthy diet' so now I have something to put on my daily list something like 'Chopped veggie salad for lunch'. This will put me closer to completing my BGL for this year. Oh the other thing I changed was 'plan a trip to Europe' to 'GO ON a trip to Europe' ~ yikes how silly was that to make a goal to plan the trip and not put myself in that picture going on the trip!
So now I have made my BGL, why not join me by taking out a piece of paper and writing your BGL for 2013, it is never too late to get those goals on paper and begin your daily list of things that will get you closer to accomplishig those things you keep thinking about. Think of the BGL as the end of the journey and the daily lists of things to accomplish as your way of enjoying the journey!
Big or small the point is to write your list(s) and accomplish those things!
