I was writing this heath tip (Helen's Health Tips) the other day:Start each day with the affirmation, I am my BEST self. As the day progresses continue reminding yourself that you are your BEST self and make choices that reflect your BEST self.
Be your BEST self!
I decided I needed this reminder daily so I began making a sign to put up on the wall. As I began writing it out I did my usual beating myself up because my sign was not picture perfect. My inner critic (aka my ego) was making all sorts of noise about how how bad the letters looked and was this really my best? The word perfection came into my mind in big bold letters! What I realized was if I was ever going to make it perfect I would never have a finished product. When my ego/inner critic gets going there is always something that isn't good enough.
So then I ask, is not good enough for whom? My inner critic or my Inner Guide? My Inner Guide is pleased with the idea behind the sign, it is pleased that I have come to realize my ego would keep me from ever creating something perfect enough. My Inner Guide is cheering me on for outing my inner critic and following the guidance of my Inner Guide.

Being my best does not mean perfection. Being my best means putting forth my best effort, it means finding my true self and being that best true self.
Here is my little sign I made and I left the perncil marks and the simple lettering to remind myself it does not mean to be perfect but to let my true essence shine forth. I am about color and light and love and that is what I see in this sign.
Each day I will be reminded to be true to myself by being my best self.
Now go out there and Be YOUR Best Self!
